Review Yamaha sr500

Roadywheel - The 1978-1979 US form of the Yamaha SR500 had front and back disc brakes as the 1980-1981 models were built with a front disc and rear drum brake, as the European 78-79 model had TLS drum brakes front and back. Cast aluminum wheels accepting tubeless tires were standard equipment on all US models (1978-1981) [vague] Through the finish of 1981, the SR500 was stopped in america market, while ongoing in Europe and Japan. The model ended production in 1999.

The SR500 employed a rather modified form of its large single-cylinder in the XT500/TT500 coupled with electronic ignition plus an automatic compression release to create kick beginning much simpler. The SR500 was marketed in Asia and Oceania (1978-1999), The United States (1978-1981) and Europe (1978-1983) - and it was not marketed within the Japanese market.

Such as the XT, the Yamaha SR500 seemed to be a success. Contemporary magazines loved it since it was diverse from the then ubiquitous and characterless Universal Japanese Motorcycle. As Cycle World enthused within the March, 1980 issue, "Although the style isn't Special, that's, it does not have bucko-bars along with a barber's chair for any seat, it's not at the same as so-known as normal motorcycles. The tank is neat and purposeful. There's no excess plastic. The SR500 is really a motorcycle for enthusiasts."
